The Cygnet Society

The Cygnet Society is a literary org that connects young, incarcerated writers with experienced mentors on the outside. We knew their logo needed to be elegant and timeless, but we didn't want it to be old and boring. It needed to contain their namesake swan, and it needed to imply mentorship. We also wanted to lean into the wordplay of cygnet the swan and signet the seal, so we created this mark, with two swans, one smaller and nestled inside the larger. We made the icon almost completed round so that it would fill a signet ring or stamp. And we set the primary version of the mark in all black to keep it simple, keep it timeless, and to open up the possibility for material interpretations like stamps and engravings.
