A Father Daughter Story of Incarceration & Education

Corrections to College California (CTCC) is an initiative working to bring face to face college education to every prison and jail in the golden state. They've made enormous progress by making the case that incarcerated folks are going to come home someday, and wouldn't we all be better off if they an education? But what about the people who won't be coming home?

Allen carries a sentence of life without parole. But getting an education inside has helped him find purpose and value. It's also helped him inspire his daughter Zion to pursue her own education. Now they're both proud students of Cal State LA.

We worked with CTCC to identify this story, filmed it on location at Cal State LA and inside California State Prison – LA County, and handled every detail of editing and post-production.
